In 2021 I graduated in Product Service System Design at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis entitled "UX Design applied to industrial automation: the re-design of a textile machine interface". The development of this thesis and the type of designer I am today is the result of many past experiences that have formed and enriched me. First of all the period of time I lived in Australia between the ages of 17 and 18, a fundamental moment in my growth path, which opened my eyes to the world, which taught me a lot about myself and what I wanted to do from that moment on.
It was at that time that I realized that design would be central to my professional life, that it would be the perfect way to apply my creativity and desire to do something concrete. I had no doubts in choosing the university. The Bachelor degree in Interior Design at Politecnico di Milano was a journey to discover beauty, technique and the infinite possibilities of expression in the field of design. My perfectionist and meticulous character poured into the design details, in choices that always tried to balance aesthetics and functionality. I have always had an eye on the person at the center of a project, people's needs are for me a fundamental aspect that must be hidden behind every design choice. For this reason, I decided to continue my academic career with the Master degree in PSSD. In those two years I discovered how essential Service Design was and how applicable it is to many other disciplines.
I learned research methodologies, more conceptual design techniques but with very strong social repercussions. I had the great fortune of working with students from all over the world, which allowed me, while remaining in Italy, to see things from different points of view. To finish my academic career, I then decided to participate in a double degree program with Tongji University in Shanghai, an experience lasting a year and a half that would surely have enriched my perspectives and nourished my curiosity about the world. The pandemic broke out just a few weeks before my departure, which forced me to give up. With much regret for the missed opportunity, I did not just finish the last year at Politecnico di Milano, but I tried to make the most out of the time available to me. My resourcefulness led me to apply my knowledge in professional fields, shifting my focus on the User Experience of digital products.
During 2020 I had the opportunity to work on a dashboard for Maserati's warranty department and a B2B tablet application for Telepass. In parallel, I designed my first HMI for an industrial machinery, a project similar to the one of my thesis. These extremely real, concrete and stimulating experiences led me to identify my true vocation in the design of UX and UI. In 2021 I designed another HMI for a big textile quality control instrument. I also had the opportunity to work on a Service Innovation project for Barilla, focused on the future of personalization in the bakery sector. In the past two years, I took care of the communication and the commercial tools such as images, videos, presentations and brochures for Thema System. In 2022 I worked as a UX & Service Design Strategist for Softec in Milan, which allowed me to challenge myself with corporate level projects. In 2023 I challenged myself working for NiEW in Modena, designing Human Machine Interfaces for several industries, including food machinery, metal processing and textile automation.
As a UX designer, I am very careful to identify users' needs and then build around them an Information Architecture that is as optimized and logical as possible. Just as the design of a physical environment requires functional and aesthetic attention, the digital environment requires order, ease of interaction and visual clarity. All of this is wrapped up in my approach to experience design. I am always willing to learn something new, to increase my knowledge and to treasure past experiences. My curiosity has no limits, my technical skills in constant evolution. The training for a designer does not end with the proclamation of degree, but must continue in parallel, for work needs and personal growth.
